Trauma-informed support
for victims of crime
John works with victims of crime through Victims Services NSW, providing counselling for women, men, and young people.
Experiencing crime — whether assault, domestic or family violence, sexual violence, or other traumatic events — can have lasting effects on safety, identity, and the ability to trust. Recovery is rarely linear, and the impacts often extend far beyond the immediate incident into every area of life.

John is an approved counsellor under Victims Services NSW, providing funded counselling support to victims of crime. This means that for eligible clients, sessions may be accessed at no cost or low cost under the Victims Support Scheme.

He works with women, men, and young people, recognising that the experience of being victimised, and what recovery looks like, can be very different depending on age, gender, cultural background, and the nature of the harm experienced. He brings particular skill in working with intimate partner violence — both with those who have experienced it and with the complex relational and safety considerations that surround it.

Recovery from crime isn't about returning to who you were before — it's about finding solid ground again, and moving forward on your own terms.

John's approach is always trauma-informed, which means prioritising safety, working at your pace, and never pushing toward processing before you're ready. He understands that for many victims, trust is hard-won, and he takes that seriously.

Referrals can be made directly through Victims Services, or you are welcome to contact John directly to discuss whether this pathway suits your situation.
